NET / KSET – Introduction
- The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India (GOI), has established
- National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent, autonomous and self-sustained organization
- The University Grants Commission (UGC) has delegated the responsibility of conducting UGC-NET to the National testing Agency
- Candidates can Apply ‘For Assistant Professor Only’ and ‘for Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges.
- Candidates can apply for UGC-NET/KSET “Online” only.
NET – Mode of Examination
- Conducted as Computer Based Test (CBT)
- The Test will consist of two
- Both the paper 1 and paper 2 will consist of objective type questions.
- There will be no break between papers.
KSET – Mode of Examination
- Conducted as OMR based Test.
- The Test will consist of two
- Both the paper 1 and paper 2 will consist of objective type questions.
NET – Pattern of Examination

| I | 100 | 50 | The questions will be generic in nature, intending to assess the teaching / research aptitude of the candidate. Candidates overall Knowledge and passion towards teaching will be tested in this paper. | 03 hours without any break. |
| II | 200 | 100 | This will be based on the subject selected by the candidate in his Post graduation. |
- All the questions will be compulsory.
- 2 marks For each correct answer given by the candidate.
- There are no negative marks for incorrect response.
KSET- Pattern of Exam
- Conducted by University of Mysore.
- Conducted Once in a Year.
- Syllabus and Pattern of examination is same as NET

NET/KSET – Eligibility
| General Merit Candidates | Secure at least 55% Marks in Master’s degree |
| (OBC)/ (SC)/ (ST)/ Persons with Disability (PwD) / Transgender candidates | Secure at least 50% Marks in Master’s degree |
| Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree are also Eligible | Must complete their Master degree or within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks |
NET / KSET – Age limit
JRF – 30 Years
Assistant Professor / NET/ KSET – No Upper Age Limit
Re-Evaluation of result
There shall be no re-evaluation/re-checking of result
